ABOUT VACATION OWNERSHIP
GETTING TO KNOW YOUR OWNERSHIP
You are now proud owners of a Vacation Ownership. From the comfort of your home you can start to plan your future holidays. With anything new you have to get to know your ownership. The brochures that you have are very well presented and the rules of the ownership must always be in the back of the mind when planning a holiday . Learning by doing applies here.
For example the period you have bought the ownership in (Silver, Gold or the Platinum). Do you want to holiday in your home resort or visit another resort in the HGVC portfolio?
If you decide to visit another resort then you can book 276 days before the cheque in. Open season applies 30 days before check out to one day before check in.
Note - the Property at West 57th Street in New York gives club members from 44 days prior to check out. So if you know exactly the dates that you want to visit New York call exactly on this date. There is no surprise that this club will attract the attention of club owners. Also try in the quieter periods of the year and you may have more choice of dates available.
Try while planning your holidays to stretch your points - See below. How to plan you own programme.
YEAR 1 - Home Resort
YEAR 2 - Crete
YEAR 3 - London
YEAR 4 - Florida
First year- home resort holiday in two bedroom apartment for one week. You will enjoy your holiday at your home resort and discover the delights of Vilamoura. Travel around the region or venturing slightly further afield into Spain and visiting the stunning city of Seville.
Stretch your points and stay a second year in the home resort but in a one bedroom apartment. This will cost you 4,800 points in the platinum period and only 3,400 in the gold period. This way you will have up to 10,000 points banked in your 3rd year.
You want to try using the RCI Exchange Programme. The island of Crete seems like a good start to stay at other resorts. The cost for your points is also quite efficient and you have a full two weeks for the cost in points of about 5000 points in a one bedroom apartment with a large living room . See- Village Heights Review.
You are probably used to your ownership and want to visit an international city in the month of August. There is no vacation club in this location but the Hilton has a selection of hotels. To stay in the hotel you need to put your points into Hilton Honours. I recommend that you call the customer service in America as they will book the reservation and make sure that your points are transferred smoothly. They also issue a certificate of booking that you present at the time of your check in.
Note: Your points must be transferred into Hilton Honours to be able to get your certificate!
Tip: When booking with the hotels using Hilton Honours the points per night apply for a standard double room. You must ask if it is possible for a child bed to be added to the reservation. The hotel will try it`s best to accommodate you.
If you are a family then this is ideal to discover Disney Land and the host of world class theme parks. The cost to your points is very good. For example, staying in a two bedroom apartment for 14 nights in the Gold period will cost 10,000 altogether. Alternatively in a one bedroom apartment 6,800 points for the same duration of 14 nights.
Every Grand Vacations Club member will have their own profile based on interests , hobbies and desires for travel. Once you start to get to know your ownership the options for travel will start to seem endless. The more you dream with the ownership the more you will experience travel in a way not possible in the conventional travel industry.
Suggestions with the ownership seem at no end, Mexico and Hawaii to mention a few.
Have fun and enjoy planning!
