The Resort Development Organisation - RDO

The Resort Development Organisation was set up in 1998 offering a forum for reputable companies in the timeshare sector with a common cause to promote fair trading and quality within the industry. The companies who are members of the RDO must abide by the code of ethics and legislation that is set.
The RDO works with governments at European and national level to create fair legislation that safe guards the interests of the consumer and encourages the positive growth of the industry.
What is important to note legislation that is now in place protects the consumer on a national level, this legislation will be implemented at a European level in 2011 giving a wider cover of protection for the consumer.

The current legislation titled 1994 Time Share Directive states:

  • Ensuring that the consumer is given sufficient information on the contract

  • Time to reflect on the purchase. A minimum of 10 days, consumer can withdraw from the contract.

  • Ensuring that no monies can be paid during this period to the seller.

  • Under new legislation that will be implemented in 2011, the minimum days where the consumer can withdraw from the contract will be 14 days.

Remember the presales list and these are very important points to remember. These are your rights !
