Featured Resort - Aegean Blue Vacations - Village Heights Resort

Agean Blue Vacations

The first resort was first opened in 1990 at the Sun Beach Holiday Club on the island of Rhodes. The beach front resort proved to be very successful and Aegean Blue Vacations continued developing their resorts on the island of Crete. There are currently four resorts on Crete all offering a distinct style of their own at various locations along the northern part of the island.

Village Heights Golf Resort is one of the four resorts belonging to
Aegean Blue Vacations and it opened up in 2006. With this ownership you can also exchange with RCI and have access to exciting holidays world wide and have your home base in Greece.

Village Heights

Village Heights is situated just outside the town of Hersonissos and is a 20 minute car ride to the capital of Crete Heraklion. Heraklion is a bustling port city easy to walk around with a variety of shops and restaurants leaving you with the impression you can browse around for a good part of a day. What is important is the air port is easy to get to, modern and large enough to cope with the challenge that tourism brings.
To get to Village Heights you can take a taxi to the resort and if you need to rent a car the resort can do this as well as giving good rental rates. As you leave the airport it becomes very clear that the island is quite mountainous and there won`t be many stretches of straight roads, but the roads are well designed and there is enough room for all sizes of transport. Another impression is that the island is very well cultivated and looked after and as you drive along the coast there is a wonderful contrast between the sea, land and mountains.

The Resort

Village Heights is not situated directly on the water, it has been subtly designed looking over the town and the views of the Mediterranean are fantastic. In the evenings you feel the benefit of the cool nights which are most welcome during the summer. There is a shuttle bus that takes you down to the town of Hersonissos, but renting a car for an island of this size with so many interesting places to visit is recommended.

The resort has been designed to blend into the surrounding colours of nature and the buildings are no more than two stories in height. The foyer is large and welcoming with a mixture of Mediterranean colours and modern design. The first impression is the materials of the building are of a good quality and the staff are friendly and professional and have a selection of languages to host most nationalities that visit. The resort can be described as comfortable to move around, it is not too big but is large enough to feel you have your own space to walk around. The restaurant is well designed with surrounding views of the mountains from some points and the glass walls facing the gardens can be opened fully which was enjoyable in the evenings. If you don’t want to cook the whole time then the half-board option including breakfast and dinner was flexible to have over a two week holiday for a family. On long day trips coming back to the restaurant for the buffet was appreciated.

The gardens were very well cultivated and full of colour from the flowers and plants in season and you were led along the path ways going down to the apartments. The apartments are spacious and very cool inside which is needed during the summer months. The one bedroom apartment has a large double room with ample storage. The living room is as large as the bedroom and has a sofa bed to sleep 2 persons. The kitchen is well equipted and there is a dining area adjoining the living room. The views to the sea are precious and this is a major tip for this resort to purchase an apartment facing the sea. You can relax on the balcony and join the sea with your thoughts. What should also be noted is how quiet it is. The resort is situated away from the town and has no surrounding neighbours and at night time one really feels alone with nature
